About

I am not good at talking about myself. So, here’s a list of random facts:

  • I am 27 years old.
  • I was born and raised in New York.
  • I am Puerto Rican and Barbadian.
    • I don’t speak any other language but English and I sometimes suck at that.
  • I am a full time office slave.
  • I am obsessed with reading, writing, horror films, anime and photography.
  • I cannot count the times where my sarcastic remarks offended someone.
  • I daydream more than normal.
  • I am a nerd.
  • This blog isn’t for people who get offended easily.
  • I have a boyfriend who accepts me for who I am and it’s something I’ve never experienced before.

  1. Regarding Buddhism; I invite you to read my post called ‘the real Buddha’ for a start 🙂 It explains the difference between the two 🙂

  2. Thank you for commenting on my blog so often. I finally took the time to check yours out, and now you have a new follower.

I like your style, you’re very original, and it’s nice to know a fellow sarcastic nerd.

  3. Good luck with school. Also, if you are looking into Buddhism, there is plenty of literature on the subject and I’m sure there are Buddhist bloggers on WordPress that you can get in touch with.

  4. Aloha,

Thanks much for your recent like. I miss my home state of New York!! Right there with ya regarding the sarcasm. In Hawaii its extremely easy to offend people so I try very hard to be aware of what I’m saying, then with friends I usually explode. : )

  5. I’m entirely non-, and partially anti-, religion, but I love to read about it all the time. Recently I was reading Sapiens, by Harari, a book not about religion specifically but about the evolution of humankind entirely, and he had a section dedicated to historical religions, kinda. I laughed at every belief system (I do that) until I read his snippet on Buddha and made the declaration (on my back deck to an empty field behind my house) “Holy Sh!t! I’m a Buddhist!”

Please don’t tell my blog readers. They both think I’m still an atheist. 😉

The part that hooked me was Harari’s explanation that the essential tenant of Gautama was to overcome craving and accept the state of things as they are, good or bad, when they occur. When we experience pleasure, we crave it to stay instead of enjoying it. When we experience pain, we crave it to leave, instead of accepting, enduring, or even (for lack of a better term) enjoying it, too. It is through the craving that we experience suffering.

    I don’t do it justice, obviously. It’s a long section. 😁

But it plays well into my own worldview. Don’t dwell on it; live through it. “What am I experiencing now?” rather than “What would I rather be experiencing?”

If reading all of Harari seems daunting, there’s also a 13-step WikiHow: 😎

Excellent introduction! I look forward to watching your spiritual (or not) growth!

P.S. No, you’re not really missing anything. Podcasts killed the radio star. 😏
